I work hard at creating and writing for my website and blog. It’s been a steep learning curve but I am getting somewhere close to how I’d like it to look.
I take the advice of peers and keep working towards a good engagement and lots of visits.
One of the pieces of advice I took to heart is that the best social media platform for visual blogs like mine is Pinterest. I should be pinning away merrily, growing a following and reaping the rewards of loads of traffic. And of course I should be doing all that with Tailwind.
So I’m giving it a try.
I should point out here that I have used Pinterest for quite some time as I like being able to create boards with related items as mood boards to inform my creative process. I also used it for my Etsy and did loads of networking that way.
Today I looked at the analytics for my website.
I was expecting traffic from Facebook first of all as I’ve been on there for years, then Pinterest which I’ve been on again for years but not as much as Facebook, then maybe a bit from Twitter and medium if I’m lucky.
The pie chart I was greeted with was nothing less than astonishing to me. Talk about knock me down with a feather!
Can you guess which platform brought me the most traffic?
Would you have guessed Stumbleupon?
Are you as shocked as I am?
For a platform that I pay hardly any attention to, I am gobsmacked.
Well over half my visitors arrive from Stumbleupon.
Now maybe I’m wildly out of touch, but I’ll be changing my focus starting today.
Let me know what you think :-)
