Bodnant Gardens in North Wales is one of my favourite places to visit. Set on the grounds of a grand house gifted to the National Trust, it manages to combine traditional formal gardens with wilder elements and natural features on the slopes of the Cambrian Mountains.

When the Laburnum Arch is in flower it is nothing short of stunning — a photograph can never do it justice. There is so much more than the visual impact. The sounds, the smells, the freshness and a feeling of peace from something that has endured through three centuries since it was created in 1880.
